Celebrating diversity across our venues for Harmony Week 2025

In line with Belgravia Foundation’s commitment to inclusion, equity and belonging, Harmony Week 2025 served as an opportunity to reflect on the richness of cultural diversity across the communities Belgravia Leisure serves.

This year, Belgravia Leisure teams across Australia and New Zealand brought Harmony Week to life through meaningful, locally-led initiatives that celebrated identity, fostered connection, and created space for genuine cultural exchange. Each activation, while unique to its community, shared a common purpose—to build inclusive environments where every individual feels valued and welcome.

At Singleton Gym and Swim Centre, creativity took centre stage with a “Harmony Tree” decorated by GOswim participants and children from the creche. Each handmade decoration was a visual expression of belonging and diversity, capturing the spirit of Harmony Week through the eyes of the youngest members of the community.

At Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre, staff gathered for a cultural lunch where team members brought dishes from their respective backgrounds. In the foyer, a display of international flags highlighted the heritage of both members and guests, with a “name the flag” activity sparking conversation and shared learning.

Manning Aquatic Centre Bathurst transformed a venue wall into a collaborative mural of Harmony Week artwork and posters, contributed by visitors of all ages. Meanwhile, Albany Creek Leisure Centre and Redcliffe War Memorial Pool proudly displayed flags and inclusive artwork throughout their venues, inviting children to colour Harmony-themed balloons and contribute to an evolving collage—each addition a personal story of belonging.

These localised celebrations demonstrate that inclusion is not one-size-fits-all—it is built through authentic, community-informed actions that honour the diverse experiences of those who walk through our doors.

As a strategic partner in social inclusion, Belgravia Foundation acknowledges and commends the thoughtful contributions of Belgravia Leisure teams, who continue to champion environments that are welcoming, respectful, and culturally safe. These efforts go beyond the week itself—they reflect an enduring commitment to diversity and inclusion, embedded in everyday practice.
