Community Steps Up for March for March Fundraiser
Belgravia Foundation celebrates inclusion, action and local impact
Belgravia Foundation is proud to celebrate the success of the recent “March for March” fundraiser held at Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre on March 31st. This community-driven event rallied support for families impacted by family violence; an underrepresented group that remains a core focus for Belgravia Foundation as identified at this year's Inspiration Breakfast.
The fundraiser raised funds for Belgravia Foundation, with 100% of the raised amount, directly reinvested into the facility to enhance community programs. Specifically, the money was used to purchase visit passes to Gurri Wanyarra, giving participants from The Orange Door access to safe, supportive leisure experiences—many for the first time.
The event challenged patrons to keep a treadmill running from open to close, symbolising continuous support and shared responsibility. In a powerful act of generosity, community members donated their time and effort, with some participating in as little as 15-minute blocks. Their combined contributions funded 42 family swim passes for families linked with The Orange Door.
Deb Kerr, Administration Officer at Bendigo’s Orange Door, shared her gratitude:
“We are grateful for any support at all, and it’s wonderful when that support comes from local groups and organisations. [Gurri’s] efforts in raising awareness in the community are also appreciated and immeasurably valuable to people who may not know of the service offered by The Orange Door.”
Belgravia Foundation commends the Gurri Wanyarra team for their outstanding leadership in creating real, local pathways to participation. Their efforts not only raised funds, but also promoted inclusion, wellbeing, and awareness of critical family support services.
This initiative demonstrates what’s possible when local action meets a shared commitment to inclusion, where even a few minutes on a treadmill can lead to life-changing opportunities.
