Move for Mind 2019 - a pathway to strong and resilient minds

Move for Mind Fun Run celebrated its second annual event on Sunday 15th September 2019. The overcast weather didn’t turn anyone away, with over 170 enthusiastic participants completing the run. Their amazing efforts helped raise $4,300 which will be invested back into the Yarra Ranges region through leisure and recreation projects.

The Move for Mind Fun Run was launched in partnership with Box Hill Institute to encourage the community to come together and move their bodies in a positive and social environment.  This was a great way to educate the Yarra Ranges community about the idea that movement is a pathway to a strong and resilient mind. Evidence confirms exercise helps people manage and work toward recovery from mental illness.

All money raised from this event will be invested back into the local area on community projects connected to the leisure and recreation sites within the Yarra Ranges region. These projects will focus on increasing participation rates of community members with mental illness, specifically youth, into leisure and recreation services and programs.
