Celebrating Innovation and Inclusion in Aquatic Safety
Belgravia Foundation celebrating Belgravia Leisure’s success for Driving Inclusion in Aquatic Safety
Belgravia Foundation is proud to share that Belgravia Leisure has been honoured with the prestigious President’s Award by Royal Life Saving NSW, recognising outstanding efforts in aquatic safety and community inclusion. Belgravia Foundation is pleased to see national recognition for the shared commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring no one misses out on vital water safety education.
This award, determined by industry leaders rather than self-nomination, is a significant acknowledgement of the far-reaching impact of programs that prioritise safety, equity, and inclusion.
As an innovation partner to Belgravia Leisure, Belgravia Foundation plays a vital role in supporting access and inclusion initiatives, providing strategic guidance, targeted funding, and specialist expertise to ensure programs are designed with equity and community impact at their core.
“This award represents the power of collaboration in creating safer and more inclusive aquatic environments,” said Scott Vanderheyden, Acting Group Manager, Health & Safety. “We are especially proud that the work of the Belgravia Foundation in increasing access to swimming lessons for vulnerable communities was acknowledged as part of this achievement.”
Presenters acknowledged a bold and consistent safety culture led by Belgravia Leisure, underpinned by the Think Safe, Act Safe, Be Safe initiative and ongoing investment in leadership, staff wellbeing, and training. In recognising Belgravia Foundation’s contribution, presenters also highlighted the impact of subsidised Learn to Swim programs delivered through Belgravia Foundation, which ensure that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have the opportunity to develop essential water safety skills.
From structured assessments and mentoring to workforce development and community engagement, this award reflects a whole-of-organisation approach to reducing drowning risk and improving access to aquatic education.
