Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre partnered with Royal Lifesaving NSW to deliver part of their Refugee Migrant Project.

Thirteen women from STARTTS partook in the program that was delivered at the centre that commenced on the mid-October 2019.  The program consisted of one 45-minute class per week for six weeks with two of Auburn Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre’s qualified instructors, Christine and Hebba.

The women commenced the program being scared with very little confidence as the majority had never been in the water previously. Over the weeks their confidence in and around water was built. The program concluded with all participants being able to stay afloat, confidently submerge and swim the length of the pool.  Some of the participants also began to develop the basics of multiple strokes.

The Belgravia Foundation would like to congratulate all those involved in creating positive outcomes for the local community.
