The Belgravia Foundation would like to congratulate Craig Tobin on being awarded Westfield Local Hero for Carindale, Queensland. Craig is an Area Manager for Belgravia Leisure whose contribution to swimming for people with an intellectual disability is outstanding.

On October 1 2019, Craig was honoured at an awards ceremony in Queensland highlighting his achievements spread across 40 years. As a part of Craig’s well-deserved recognition, he receives a $10,000 grant to continue his important work at Redlands Special Olympics.

“The award brings recognition to the program and an increased awareness within the community we operate,” Craig said.

“It brings athletes with a disability more into the mainstream. The more we can showcase the achievements of these athletes to the wider community the more acceptance we get. I have had several people from overseas contact me for specific advice on how to implement a similar program, something I’m also happy to assist with.”

Craig is a strong supporter of access, inclusion and diversity. He looks to drive change, not only within the leisure sector but also in the community and society. He holds the same passion as the Belgravia Foundation and we applaud the recognition of his many years of dedicated volunteering in support of people with an intellectual disability, and look forward to continuing our work with him.

Once again, congratulations Craig Tobin.
